I am a philosopher and existential risk researcher based in Cambridge. My work engages with large scale global transformations being driven by AI, climate change, societal transitions, and environmental breakdown, and building existential hope in the possibility of safe, joyous, and inclusive futures for human beings on planet earth.
I have a strong portfolio of work across policy and media engagement, including establishing an All Party Parliamentary Group for Future Generations and making programmes for the BBC. I also have a wide range of skills and experiences producing high-quality research, training and analysis across education and public affairs. My new book, Existential Hope, will be published by Polity in Autumn 2025. |
I am currently a Research Affiliate at the Institute for Technology and Humanity in the University of Cambridge, a fellow of Microsoft's AI Economy Institute, and a BBC/AHRC New Generation Thinker. I have a PhD in philosophy from the London School of Economics and am on the editorial board of the journal Futures, where I work to identify and support cutting-edge transdisciplinary research.
